The home was designed to fit with the environment by local architect Barbara Hickson and was built by Ian Birchall also from Mudgee. Ian was voted "Australian small medium builder of the year” for 2004.
As in the best guesthouses much effort has gone in to providing a quality experience. For example the dining table and sideboard were made by local master craftsman David Davenport and were constructed from an English Elm planted along the Cassilis Road in the late 1800's. This old Elm started to fall apart and die in the winter of 2001 and was "rescued" from burning by David. It spent from October 2001 to the end of 2003 curing at David's property in Mudgee. David has also made other special pieces of furniture for the home.
The home is modern on its furnishings and style with, what some guests describe as ”nice finishing touches with everything thought about”.
The Guest lounge has a log fire, a state of the art TV and sound system, plenty of very comfortable seating and an unfinished jigsaw puzzle just waiting to be added to!
The library is full of books, magazines, CD’s and DVDs (and portable CD & DVD players) and games .
